The Wedding Weekend

My nephew, Aaron Key got married February 28th in the Rexburg Temple. I mentioned I wanted to get a picture of the Rexburg Temple at night and failed to do so! (Thanks for the picture, LaVoy!) This Temple is so beautiful at night! It sits up on the hill of Rexburg and glows for the world to see! Your eyes are so drawn to it that I can't imagine anyone not noticing it while driving on the freeway. You see it glow and it makes you glow from within! And inside it's just as beautiful!

Mom, Melanie, and myself caravaned with LaVoy and Alan early (4:30 am) on Friday morning of the 27th. We should have known the trip would be successful when we all four showed up in black and hot pink! We are family, that's for sure! We drove the Boise way so we could drop Melanie off at her roommates home from college years in Pocatello. We got to Pocatello around 3:30 pm, dropped Mel off and onto Rexburg to our hotel.

My sister, Barbie (showing her true self in this photo!) drove up from Utah and met us at the hotel about 1/2 an hour after we got there. There's never a dull moment when Barbie is around! We changed and headed back to Idaho Falls to the dinner for the bride and groom's wedding party and family. We had a yummy Italian dinner and lots of laughs.

The newly wedded couple, Aaron and Cassandra Key. Cassandra's full name now is: Cassandra Dawn Key! We all had a good laugh over that one! Sorry, Cassandra but it is funny!

We may look happy but I think it was 12 degrees out the morning of the wedding! It was cold! This is all of Aaron's family that was either at the ceremony or waiting at the Temple. I was so glad we drove down to be there for him. It was a beautiful ceremony and the sealer who performed the ceremony was a man Mom knew from her high school student body days who is also the Temple President. They reconnected after 50 some years and it was fun to see them get reacquainted. He admitted to being in love with her all those years ago but her heart already belonged to my Dad. I was glad she asked if he was at the Temple that day and I don't think it was just a coincidence that he had been assigned to perform Aaron's ceremony. It was truly special.

We had a fun time at the reception. Mom got cozy with one of the groomsmen. This is Brad who was a missionary with Aaron in Mexico and now is engaged to my niece Kylie's best friend, Holly Nelson! He is one of the funniest guys I have ever met and kept us all in stitches and made the reception very enjoyable! Thanks, Brad for hitting on my Mom!

This is my Mom, LaVoy, me and Barbie at dinner. We had so much fun that weekend that we've decided we need to have a mother/daughter get-away yearly! We wouldn't sleep much but it would sure be fun! I'm so thankful for sisters who are my best friends and a beautiful mother that we're all a chip of her old block! (I'm not really calling you old, Mom! It's just a figure of speech!) I'm so very blessed with a wonderful family! Thanks for a great weekend! And best wishes to you, Aaron and Cassandra!

I am SOOO proud of you for taking pictures and capturing aunt LaVoy and my mom. Sorry if she was too crazy...you know how she is when she doesn't get her medication (Diet Coke/Diet Dr. Pepper). Her language gets worse as the body dries up, but isn't she fun! I am so glad you guys got together and I hope and pray you get to do a sisters weekend! My mom totally needs that!! Love you Aunt Mimi!

I've been waiting for your post. It was well worth the wait!! Thank you over and over for taking me along on your weekend. It was perfect! I had so much fun in the car with you guys. We never get to chat that much. I love that we matched on Friday morning too, it was great! (I might have to steal that photo of all 4 of us for my blog too) Love you!!

Nikki you are too funny. I never realized that's when my mom goes awry, when the Diet Coke dries up! Ha ha, I'll be watching that next time I'm around her.

Looks like one fun weekend! I wish I could have gone. The wedding sounded wonderful, and I loved to hear about Grammie getting reacquainted with an old student body friend. So cool! I sure do love the family I come from!
